Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial Cupping is a type of manual therapy that uses suction cups to release tension in the fascia, which is a thin layer of connective tissue that covers the muscles and organs in the body. This therapy is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, which believes that the fascia can become restricted or stuck, leading to pain and discomfort.

There are a number of different tools used for Myofascial cupping however In our clinic we mostly use plastic vacuum cups. During a Myofascial Cupping session, the practitioner applies a cup to the skin and creates a vacuum, which pulls the skin and fascia upward. Our therapists use both static and gliding cupping methods. With the static method our therapists massage the area where the cup will be placed, once the cup is applied it is left in place for the required amount of time, the cup is removed and the area is massaged again gently, with the gliding method the cup is applied and is then moved along the affected area to loosen any restrictions and improve the flow of blood and lymphatic fluid.

Myofascial Cupping is effective for a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries, stress, and chronic fatigue. It can also be used to improve range of motion, reduce muscle tension, and enhance overall health and well-being.

Myofascial Cupping is a safe and non-invasive form of therapy that is suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds. It is often performed in conjunction with other forms of manual therapy, such as massage, acupuncture or physical therapy, and can be adjusted to meet the needs and preferences of each individual.

Overall, Myofascial Cupping is a type of manual therapy that can release tension in the fascia and promote balance and well-being throughout the body.

Whether used on its own or in conjunction with other forms of treatment, Myofascial Cupping can be a valuable tool for improving quality of life and enhancing overall health and well-being.
